New baby card messages from coworkers
By CardTogether editorial team. Last reviewed .
A new parent reads cards one-handed between feeds, so the best coworker messages are short, specific about the person rather than the baby, and clear that work can wait. Here are 46 original lines, sorted by tone, that you can paste as written or adjust for a second child or an adoption.

Heartfelt
- Anyone who has watched you mentor an intern already knows how good you'll be at this. Congratulations to your whole family.
- You kept showing up for this team through a long and tiring pregnancy. Now let the team show up for you. Rest, and don't check Slack.
- Congratulations on the newest member of your family. I hope the first weeks are gentle and the first smile comes early.
- The way you've talked about this baby in every stand-up for months made it clear how wanted this little person is. So happy it's finally real.
- Your desk will be waiting, your projects are covered, and nobody expects a single reply. Enjoy every minute of leave.
- I remember you bringing a cake for every birthday in the office. Now there's a whole new birthday to celebrate every year. Congratulations.
- Wishing your family quiet nights, easy mornings, and all the help you need from people who love you.
- Welcome home to the little one. They've landed with two of the most patient people I've ever shared a project with.
- From a parent on the team: the first weeks are a blur and that is fine. You're going to be great at this.
- Congratulations on finally bringing your child home after such a long adoption process. The whole team has been pulling for you.
Short and simple
- Congratulations! Sleep when you can.
- So happy for your family. Enjoy the leave.
- Welcome, little one. The whole office is rooting for you.
- Big news, big congratulations. Rest up.
- Wishing you all the sleep and none of the stress.
- Congratulations to you both. We've got work covered.
- The team is thrilled for you. Enjoy every cuddle.
- Warmest congratulations on your new arrival.
- Happy for you three. Take your time coming back.
Funny
- You've handled stakeholders who cry when they don't get their way. You are fully trained for this.
- Congratulations. Your new direct report has no respect for working hours and will escalate everything.
- Enjoy your leave. The coffee machine will be here when you return, and you'll need it more than ever.
- We put a reminder in the shared calendar to never schedule you for anything before 10 a.m. for the next year.
- Good luck with the onboarding. This one doesn't read the handbook.
- Congratulations on becoming the person whose camera is off in every meeting for a very good reason.
- A baby is basically a tiny project with no scope, no deadline, and a very loud sponsor. You'll be fine.
- Your out-of-office has never been more deserved or less likely to be respected by a newborn.
- Congratulations. We're already betting on how many weeks until the baby photo becomes your Slack avatar.
From the whole team
- From everyone on the team: congratulations on your new baby. The projects are covered, the chat is muted, and we're all so happy for you.
- The whole team chipped in on this card because the whole team has been waiting for this news. Welcome to the world, little one.
- We've got your deadlines, your meetings, and your plant. Go enjoy your new family. Congratulations from all of us.
- Every one of us is delighted for you. Please send a photo when you feel like it and ignore us completely when you don't.
- From your desk pod, the lunch crew, and the people who still owe you a favor: congratulations on the baby.
- The team has agreed that your only task for the next few months is naps. Congratulations to your growing family.
- We're so happy for you and can't wait to meet the newest member of the extended team. All our love from the office.
- From all of us who have watched you get ready for this: congratulations. You've been planning like a pro and now the real project starts.
- Welcome back from leave, and congratulations again. Ease in at your own pace. Everyone here has your back.
From a manager
- Congratulations on your new baby. Take the full leave, enjoy every day of it, and know that your work and your role are safe here.
- I'm so happy for you and your family. Nothing at work needs your attention right now, and I'll make sure it stays that way.
- You've given this team a great deal over the past year. Now go give your time to the person who matters most. Congratulations.
- Warmest congratulations from me and the whole department. We'll see you when you're ready, and not a day before.
- The best thing you can do for this team right now is rest. Congratulations, and please leave the email unread.
- Congratulations on the adoption being finalized. I know how long the wait was, and I'm thrilled your family is finally complete.
- Welcome back. We'll adjust the workload for as long as you need while you find your new rhythm. So glad to have you with us again.
- Wishing your family health and calm in the months ahead. Your projects are in good hands and your seat is waiting.
- Congratulations on becoming a parent. It has been a pleasure to watch you prepare, and I'm excited for this next chapter for you.
Tips for signing a group card
- Write about the parent, not the baby you haven't met. "You're the calmest person on the floor" lands better than guesses about the newborn.
- Offer one concrete thing: covering a meeting, a meal drop, or simply "no reply needed." Skip open-ended offers nobody will take up.
- Check whether it's a birth, an adoption, or a second child and write to that. Treating an adoption like a surprise delivery misses the mark.
- Keep every message short. A card of thirty two-line notes is easier to read at 3 a.m. than five long paragraphs.
Send the whole team's congratulations in one link
Start a card, share one link, and everyone adds a message or a GIF from their own phone or laptop. No account for you or for them.

Congratulate the parent, say something about them rather than the baby, and make it clear work can wait. A couple of sentences is plenty; new parents read cards in short gaps.
